Community Funding

We have two community funding schemes to support the development of projects across Shepway

Ward Budgets

The Member Ward Budget scheme is now open for applications until 28 February 2018.

Each of the 30 Shepway Councillors are allocated a 'ward budget' of up to £3,000 to spend on community projects in their ward.

Community organisations that are located in Shepway, or have a strong connection with the area, can apply for the ward budget.

These include:

  • Town and parish councils with a community tax of less than £21,000 a year
  • Community interest companies
  • Registered charities
  • Community and voluntary groups

Community groups can contact their ward councillor to apply for this funding.

Community Chest

The Community Chest scheme is now open and the deadline for completed applications to be received is 5pm on Monday 31 July 2017.  Please note that applications received after this time, cannot be considered.

The Community Chest is a funding scheme that allocates grants to community groups and charities delivering projects for the benefit of Shepway residents.

This year there is approximately £47,000 available and the maximum grant size is £5,000.
Please note that the large grant is no longer available and that this will be the last year for the Community Chest scheme.

Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions at the back of the form before completing it to make sure your organisation and your project are eligible.

Projects must not start before the grant has been awarded and the grant must be claimed within 12 months. The grant is paid retrospectively (i.e. evidence of the expenditure must be provided in order to claim the grant).
