We've changed our name

We've changed our name to Folkestone & Hythe District Council

If you pay your Council Tax or any service by Direct Debit, don't worry about making any changes. We've taken care of this with our bank.

We've made minor changes to our 'horse' logo and it will remain immediately recognisable. However, you may still see our old name on signs, vehicle livery or letterheads because we're changing these only on an 'as and when' basis - when they need replacing or run-out!

The name change was proposed by the Leader of the Council, Cllr David Monk, and was supported by the required majority of at least two thirds of councillors at an extraordinary meeting of the council in January. The new name identifies the two main towns where nearly two thirds of the population live and mirrors that of the parliamentary constituency.

I regularly meet people who, after 40 years, still have no idea where Shepway is and for many years businesses have been complaining about the relevance of our name. We need a stronger geographical identity to support the district's regeneration and reflect Folkestone's growing international reputation - which benefits the whole districtLeader of the Council, Cllr David Monk

Our new web address is www.folkestone-hythe.gov.uk and emails to departments or people within the council will end with @folkestone-hythe.gov.uk. We'll have email and domain forwarding in place for six months - so don't worry about your messages falling through the net if you do use our old addresses.
