Minutes:

Councillor Love made a voluntary declaration in the item relating to the Senior Management Review, because the independent advisor to the Committee was known to him in his work for South East Employers.

RESOLVED:

 

That the public be excluded for the following item of business on the grounds that it is likely to disclose exempt information, as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 – ‘Information relating to any individual.’

Senior Management Review

This report considers proposals for the senior management of the council

The report considered proposals for the Senior Management of the council.

 

Proposed by Councillor Wheeler,

Seconded by Councillor Wilkins; and

 

RESOLVED:

1.        That report P/17/09 be received and noted.

2.        That the Personnel Committee recommend to Council that the senior management structure consist of three directors (or posts with equivalent titles) one of whom will be designated as head of paid service pursuant to section 4 Local Government and Housing Act 1989;

3.        That the Personnel Committee recommend to Council that Mr Alistair Stewart, Chief Executive be dismissed on the grounds of redundancy on 31 March 2018;

4.        That the Personnel Committee recommend to Council that, subject to approval of the necessary constitutional change, the Head of Paid Service role be advertised internally;

5.        That the Personnel Committee recommend to council that the Personnel Committee carry out the selection process with any recommendations considered at an extraordinary meeting of the Council on 28 March 2018;

6.        That the specification for Head of Paid Service role in appendix 2 be approved and;

7.        That the level of supplement for the role of Head of Paid Service be agreed at £10k, to be reviewed after a period of six months.
