Dog walking areas

There are certain areas in Shepway that require dogs to be on leads, some areas where dogs are banned or banned at specific times of the year

For safety, and to ensure people can enjoy our public spaces, there are many places where dogs must be on a lead or are banned altogether. These are called Dog Control Orders (DCO)

If you ignore a DCO, you can be fined:

  • £80 on the spot (a 'Fixed Penalty Notice')
  • up to £1,000 if it goes to court

Only owners of guide dogs are exempt.
