Pay your Council Tax bill by Direct Debit

The benefits of Direct Debit

Direct Debit is the safest and easiest way to pay your Council Tax. Direct Debit will ensure that payments are made on time and for the right amount so you never forget to pay your bill.

You don't need to renew your Direct Debit every year. Once you've set it up, it continues until you cancel it or payments are returned unpaid by your bank.

What you need to know

  • You will not be able to complete the online form unless you have been issued with a Council Tax bill and have a Council Tax account number
  • If you set up a Direct Debit using this instruction form it will only create instalments for any amount due which is not covered by enforcement action
  • Payments in a full financial year may be made over 10 or 12 months depending on the option selected, fewer instalments will be given if later in the financial year
  • In order to set up Direct Debit online, you must be the only person authorised to set up Direct Debit payments from the bank account
