Licensing Act 2003 - Premises and Club Licence
The Licensing Act 2003 governs the grant of licences for regulated entertainments, the sale and supply of alcohol and the supply of late night refreshments.
The four licences are:
- A premises licence wherever a 'licensable activity' takes place
- A club premises certificate will be required for clubs wherever a 'licensable activity' takes place.
- A Temporary Event Notice is for any person wishing to hold a temporary event involving one or more licensable activities listed below. The event must last no more than 96 hours and with no more than 499 people.

The licensable activities are:
- The sale by retail of alcohol
- The supply of alcohol at a club. For this a club premises certificate is required. A separate leaflet is available relating to club premises.
- The provision of regulated entertainment
- Providing facilities to people to take part in music and dancing entertainment e.g. providing a dance floor
- Providing late night refreshment between 11pm and 5am
Temporary Event Notice
A Temporary Event Notice MUST arrive with the Licensing Authority and Folkestone Police 10 clear working days before the event. A Temporary Event Notice that is not received with 10 clear working days notice before the event will NOT be granted.
