What is a Personal Search?

Any member of the public is entitled to inspect the Local Land Charges Register upon payment of a statutory fee. The main users of this service are personal search companies. A solicitor may choose to use a personal search company to carry out a search on a property instead of submitting an official search through Local Land Charges.

If you rely on a personal search from a solicitor or personal company, you should be aware that a personal search does not provide all the information given on a full (LLC1 and CON29) search provided by the Local Authority. It is only a search of the Local Land charges Register (LLC1).

The Local Land Charges Register is available for personal searches by strict appointment only between 10.00am -12.00pm & 2.00pm – 4.00pm Monday to Friday giving at least 4 days notice. To make an appointment please contact a member of the Local Land Charges team below.
