Green Business

Thinking about climate change makes business sense - things that help lessen the effects of climate change can often be translated into money savings. Extreme weather events caused by climate change will also have a detrimental effect on business operations, so plan ahead to ensure you will still be able to operate.

The following organisations can help you ‘green' your business

Business Link - free impartial advice on how to use resources efficiently, online toolkits to help assess your environmental compliance, and calculate your CO2 emissions

Envirowise - Envirowise offers free, independent support to your business helping you to become more resource efficentand save money. Resource efficiency is not just an environmental initiative, it is also an important business process that could potentially save your organisation a lot of money.

Carbon Trust - Delivers practical solutions; works with business and the public sector to identify carbon emissions and find ways of cutting them; and provides the knowledge and resources (including funding) to help them do so.

WRAP - helps individuals, businesses and local authorities to reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change.

Environment Agency - Guidance for business sectors on complying with regulations and protecting the environment.

A toolkit is available for tourism businesses to help prepare for the effect of the changing climate. It has been designed by a partnership of the Public, Private, and Voluntary Sectors.
