Main ContentSplashing Out at Hythe PoolHythe Pool's reception area is getting a make-over. The work, which starts on Monday 18 January, includes general modernisation and re-painting of the foyer area that greets pool users. Shepway District Council was given a £30,000 grant from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to cover the cost of the work. The grant programme was for council-owned pools which had signed up for the government's over-60s and under-16s free-swimming initiative. The work is expected to take six weeks to complete and pool users will be directed to another entrance while the work is carried out. Cllr Carole Waters, Cabinet Member for Sport and Culture, said the grant was not enough to pay for major work but redecorating the foyer would make big difference to pool users. "The foyer is the first thing pool users see and it is great that we will be able to give it a bit of a facelift and make it brighter and more welcoming!"
