Shepway Arts Development Action Plan 2009-10

Shepway's Arts Development Strategy covers the three years 2009 - 2012 and guides the use of the council's resources - both in terms of funding and officer time - in the arts. The strategy sets out four objectives that will be achieved through a number of actions. The objectives are:

  1. Increase access to the arts for all people in Shepway through boosting community participation, identifying gaps, targeting services and creating partnerships
  2. Facilitate relationships between local and regional partners so that common goals are identified and reached, and these goals reflect what Shepway people want
  3. Help local arts practitioners and creative industries to flourish, bringing visitors and investment to the district
  4. Regularly monitor and continually improve our arts service

The arts strategy will also help the council achieve its three-year Corporate Plan for 2009-2012. The Corporate Plan has four central objectives, and arts development plays a role in achieving each of them. These objectives are:

  • Improving the appearance of the district
  • Serving customers and the community
  • Creating places where people want to live and work
  • Performing effectively

To assist in achieving the Arts Strategy's objectives, we have created an Arts Development Action Plan for April 2009 - March 2010, which will be delivered, primarily, by the council's Arts Development Officer:
