The South East Domestic Violence Forum and the Community Safety Partnerships of Shepway and Dover have launched the new version of the domestic abuse booklet, Is Your World Shattered by Domestic Abuse. Who Can Help? The booklet explains what domestic abuse is, what you can do about seeking help, advice and support if you, or someone you know, is experiencing domestic abuse. Domestic abuse includes any form of physical, sexual or emotional abuse between people in a close relationship. It can take a number of forms such as physical assault, sexual abuse, rape, threats and intimidation. Intimidation can be degradation, mental and verbal abuse, humiliation, depravation, systematic criticism and belittling. Victims of Domestic Abuse in Shepway are set to benefit from greater support with the opening of a One Stop Shop bringing together a number of support agencies under one roof. The One Stop Shop is based at the Early Years Centre (the round building) in Dover Road, Folkestone, and open every Friday from 12 pm to 2 pm. Anyone who is suffering from Domestic Abuse can drop in to the One Stop Shop without an appointment and will have access to services such as housing support, legal advice, victim support, Kent Police and others.
