Hythe Beach Plans Moving Forward
Members of Shepway District Council are in buoyant mood after securing an agreement that will transform the appearance and usage of a stretch of beach in Hythe.
The agreement, which has recently been entered into with the neighbouring landowner Ossory Investments Ltd, regards the future development of Hythe Beach. The project is now moving forward, and regular consultation is being undertaken with existing users of the beach and stakeholders.
The Council and Ossory Investments are holding an exhibition on 26th November 2009 at Hythe Town Hall from 12noon to 6.15pm. A meeting will follow at 7pm which will take the form of a presentation with question and answer session.
Cllr Robert Bliss, Leader of the council said "This is a fantastic opportunity for the Council and the town of Hythe to regenerate an area that has suffered from anti social behaviour into a high quality mixed use development, which will still include commercial fishing."
The Council is anticipating a minimum capital receipt of £2.25m and any capital receipt will be used to support our capital programme to fund projects throughout the Shepway District.
