Lydd Airport Meeting Date Set

The council meeting to determine plans to expand Lydd Airport will be held on Wednesday 3 March next year.

The meeting was due to be held on 24 September but Shepway District Council Chief Executive, Alistair Stewart, agreed to change the date following a request from the airport's new Managing Director, Jonathan Gordon.

Mr Gordon took over the role of MD on 1 September and had asked Mr Stewart to defer the meeting to give him time to review all the paperwork involved in the two applications, including the airport's response to concerns raised by the council in its published report.

Mr Stewart has made it clear that he is not prepared to change the date again.

"We must reach a position where these applications are finally determined," he said.
