Main ContentParking proposals for west FolkestonePeople living in 13 streets around Folkestone West Station have been sent letters and questionnaires about a proposed new parking scheme in their area.A Controlled Parking Zone is being put forward by Shepway District Council, to help tackle parking difficulties caused by commuter traffic - a problem that is likely to get worse when the new high speed train services start using Folkestone West in December. Parking restrictions will mean that only permit holders will be able to park in the streets during specific hours. Permits will be available for residents, their visitors, businesses, health and care workers and tradesmen. Disabled parking bays will remain. Residents have until 22 May to make their views known. As well as being given the opportunity to complete questionnaires, residents are being invited to two exhibitions on 14 May (1pm-4pm) and 16 May (11am-3pm) at the St George's Church Hall, Audley Road, Folkestone. Ward councilors, business representatives and bus operators Stagecoach, were invited to a meeting on Friday (24 April) to look at the proposals in detail. "The feedback was quite positive and the comments we received were very useful. We will now be waiting to hear what residents have to tell us," said Transportation Manager, Fred Miller.
