Sporting chance

     

Young athletes from all over Shepway took part in top-level coaching sessions on Friday (8 August)

While the 2008 Olympics get underway in Beijing nearer to home coaches in sprints, hurdles, jumps and throws were on hand to put the young people through their paces Among them was Ashia Hansen, one of the world's greatest Triple Jumpers and Britain's greatest ever female jumper, having set 20 British records.

This sessions formed part of the ever-expending concept of Street Athletics and provided the opportunity for young people to experience track and field at club level.

The sessions were held at the Canterbury Body and Mind Leisure Centre, Canterbury High School in Knight Avenue, Canterbury.
