Worker threatened with knife
A council worker who was weeding the banks of the Royal Military Canal in Hythe was threatened by a man carrying a knife last Wednesday (30 July).
At around 11.10 am the worker, who is in his 20s, was working on the bank in Prospect Road near Waitrose when he was told to hand over his money. He handed over £20 and his attacker then left the knife at the scene and walked off towards Waitrose.
The council worker immediately called the police who arrived within minutes. A search failed to find the robber, who is described as a man of Asian appearance, 5ft 10in tall, with short black hair and he had a number of upper and lower gold teeth. He was wearing a red/blue t shirt, and a Brighton & Hove Albion cap.
Cllr Alan North, said the council had a zero-tolerance policy when it came to attacks or threats to staff.
"We will not tolerate any attacks or threats to our staff who are out there doing an honest day's work. We always report incidents like this to the police and do all we can to help them to apprehend the culprit."
