Noise that can send you barking mad
Sandgate Road in Folkestone will be going to the dogs on Thursday 22 May when Shepway District Council highlights the problems caused by barking canines.
As part of an initiative to mark Noise Awareness Week, Environmental Education Officers from Shepway District Council will be at a marquee in the pedestrian precinct near West Cliff Gardens to explain how barking dogs can affect neighbours. Complaints about barking dogs make up 17 per cent of all noise complaints made to the council.
A tape dogs barking will be played to demonstrate just how noisy they can be.
Canine behaviourist Pippa Ducat will also be on hand with advice and help on how to keep dogs happy - and quiet.
There will also be an opportunity for dog owners to have their pets micro-chipped for just £10.99 - which covers the cost of the identity chip and Environment Community Officers will also be there to offer advice about other aspects of responsible dog ownership.
"Lots of us enjoy owning dogs but it is important that our pets are not a nuisance to our neighbours. I am sure that Pippa will be able to give some very good advice," said Cllr Rory Love, Cabinet Member for the Environment.
The marquee will be open from 12noon until 3.00pm
