What is Community Safety?

The purpose of the Community Safety Unit is to improve the quality of life for all those who live, visit and work in Shepway. We aim to do this by promoting Community Safety and reducing crime and the fear of crime throughout the district.

The Shepway Community Safety Unit has been set up within the council offices to co-ordinate intelligence, intervention, prevention and enforcement to deal with crime and anti-social behaviour.

The Community Safety Unit is a multi-agency operation working to reduce crime by helping to deliver the priorities of the Community Safety Partnership and its latest Community Safety Plan. To view the work of the Community Safety Partnership (CSP) please select this link.

The Community Safety Unit is not a 24 hour emergency response unit. If there is a crime in progress or a threat to life please dial 999. For all police related non-emergencies in Shepway please contact 01303 850055.
