Acclaim for young film makers
Seven young film makers got a special mention as most promising newcomers at the prestigious Boulogne Film Festival recently.
The group's two-minute film was shown to a large audience at the festival. The young people, who live in Shepway and Boulogne, are now forging ahead with a longer video, A Tale of Two Cities, featuring Folkestone and Boulogne.
The Youth on Board video project aims to help young people aged between 11 and 18 on both sides of the Channel - particularly those who have been excluded from school - gain new language skills and benefit from team-building as well as giving them a chance to pick up film making, editing and story board writing skills.
The group has worked in both Shepway and Boulogne filming cross-channel sports events, a music festival and Folkestone's lantern procession which will be included in the Tale of Two Cities video.
The project, which is supported by European Interreg funding, was set up by BOSCO, the Boulogne, Shepway and Canterbury Co-operation Association which has successfully secured more than £2m of Euro funding for a variety of projects.
