Main ContentSecuring Sustainable Residential DevelopmentSustainable Residential DevelopmentPerformance against the national Code for Sustainable Homes is now a material (valid) consideration in the determination of planning applications for new residences. The aim of the guidance is for new homes built in the district to exceed minimum standards as set out in the national Code for Sustainable Homes. The guidance also provides further support to the Development Plan especially policy SD1 from the Shepway District Local Plan Review (2006). The Securing Sustainable Residential Development guidance document can be viewed below: The above document is the final guidance policy that will be used in determining planning applications. It reflects the policy agreed by Shepway District Council Cabinet and subsequent non-material amendments (predominantly to Appendix 2) approved by the Council (District Secretary for Planning). Further advice as to meeting the requirements of the guidance is contained within the Design & Access Statement guidance notes.
