Disabled parking permit - the Blue BadgeThe Blue Badge disabled parking scheme allows disabled and registered blind people to park closer to shops and amenities, in areas where parking is restricted. Blue Badge holders may be drivers or passengers. A valid Blue Badge must be correctly displayed whenever a vehicle is parked in a disabled bay. Failure to correctly display a valid Blue Badge may result in a penalty charge notice being issued. Kent County Council is responsible for the administration and issue of Blue Badges for Shepway residents. To find out more information or apply, please call 01622 605020 or follow this link to Kent County Council's website. Disabled parking baysIf you have a Blue Badge and severe mobility difficulties you can apply to have a disabled person's parking space marked on the road outside your home or within your shared residents' car park. A disabled parking bay is not exclusive to the person for whom it has been provided. Anyone with a valid Blue Badge can park in a disabled bay.
