Main ContentWays to pay and electronic billingCouncil tax payers can now apply for an electronic version of their council tax bill by e-mail instead of receiving a paper bill. There are many ways to pay your council tax. The easiest and most efficient way is by direct debit. Ways to payDirect debit is the easiest and most efficient way to pay. It saves you time and effort - you don't need to queue or waste money on postage stamps. It also saves the council money as less administration is required. For more information click here. Online via the council's online payments facility . You can pay online 24 hours a day, seven days a week using your Switch, Delta, Solo, Visa or MasterCard. You may pay by most debit and credit cards by telephoning 01303 853555. From early December this will be a 24 hour payment line. There is no charge for payments by Debit Card but there is a 1.5% charge on every transaction made by Credit Card. Please ensure you have your invoice number to hand when making a payment. By telephone using your debit or credit card during office hours - just call 01303 853555. We currently accept the following payment cards: VISA (not Corporate Purchasing), Mastercard, Delta (VISA), JCB, Solo, Switch, Laser and Platima. Please have the account number from you bill ready.
By cash: From 1st December 2009 you can pay at any outlet displaying the Pay Point or Post Office sign. Please note: From 1st December 2009 we will no longer take cash or cheques over the counter at out Civic Centre in Folkestone or our One Stop Service in New Romney. By post to Shepway Revenues and Benefits Services, Shepway District Council, Civic Centre, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, CT20 2QY. Please use your payment card if you have one and make your cheques payable to Shepway District Council, with the following information printed on the back: your name, address and council tax account number (which can be found on the front of your bill).
