Fitting advice about safety
Shepway Council is joining councils from across Kent to take part in a week-long campaign to help reduce injuries at work.
Every year more than 10,000 accidents are reported to the Health and Safety Executive and to local councils from within the logistics, road haulage and goods delivery industries. People are hurt by items falling during loading and unloading, falling from vehicles, tripping and slipping in loading areas and by not carrying loads properly.
The Workplace and Transport Campaign, which started on Monday (29 October) is targeting the carpet industry and Shepway Council environmental health officers will be visiting local warehouses, high street shops and carpet fitters to give advice on how injuries can be reduced.
