Issues & Options for Shepway's long-term development!Work has commenced on Shepway District Council's Core Strategy. The Core Strategy will be the primary part of the Local Development Framework (LDF), the statutory set of local planning policies which forms the starting point for the determination of all planning applications. Moreover, the Core Strategy will set the the long-term direction for the development of Shepway. The first stage in the production of a Core Strategy is to gather evidence and prepare issues and alternative options in consultation with local residents, organisations and all interested parties. These Core Strategy Issues and Alternative Options consultation concluded in early 2008. The Core Strategy Issues & Options Consultation documents can be viewed by clicking here. You will also see responses to questions within the two full consultation documents (as made by consultees who used the on-line portal). Other information, including the public Summary booklet, can be viewed by clicking here The council received a good response to the Issues & Options consultation, which included meeting with key stakeholders, feedback from the Citizens Panel, consultees submitting their thoughts and ideas to us in writing and coming along to speak with us at the consultation events. Their favoured options in response to the Summary booklet, together with an independent sustainability review of associated options can be viewed below. Hard copies of Issues & Options consultation responses are available for inspection at the Civic Centre, Folkestone, during office hours. To ensure prompt availability, it is advisable to contact the Planning Policy Team in advance.
