Plenty of fun at Hawkinge
The popular Hawkinge Fun Day will be wowing visitors on Saturday (8 September) with a range of events, displays and exhibitions.
The day kicks off at 11.00am when Hawkinge Harry, a 12ft high giant created by local people and Strange Cargo arts company, leads a procession around the community green in Heron Forstal Avenue.
It's the fourth time a fun day has been held and organisers, the Hawkinge Community Event Group, say it's going to be the best yet. The idea behind the fun day is to bring residents of the growing village - Hawkinge has more than 2,500 homes and a population of nearly 7,000 - together and celebrate the different facets of village life.
Included in the line up are inflatable rides, live bands, dancing, demonstrations and plenty of food and drink stalls.
