UPDATE: We expect to review the current Local Development Scheme (LDS) which sets out the timetable for production of the Local Development Framework including dates for future consultation. It is anticipated the next stage of Core Strategy preparation and engagement is likely to be in early 2009 Current ConsultationSHLAA (Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment)29th August- 6th October 2008 We are now consulting upon the draft methodology proposed to carry out Shepway District Council's first SHLAA. The SHLAA is an important part of the evidence base for the Local Development Framework (LDF) and will inform forthcoming Core Strategy proposals for Shepway. The draft methodology can be viewed and commented upon through our Consultation Portal (accessed below). Practical Guidance on SHLAA is available on the Department for Communities and Local Government website, click here to view. The draft methodology has been prepared with reference to the SHLAA Protocal for Kent and Medway (2008), which can be viewed below:
The consultation will also include an opportunity to put forward potential housing sites, which will then be screened against the finalised methodology. Sites should be for 0.15 hectares (0.4 acres) or more, or hold potential for at least 5 dwellings. If you wish to put forward a site you should complete the Shepway Stakeholder Submission Form (available below) for each site and provide a map based on OS large-scale mapping (preferably at least 1:25,000) by 6th October 2008. Submissions will not be accepted without a suitable map or completed Form. It should be noted that having a site including in this study does not determine that it will then feature in the LDF/ Core Strategy or get planning permission, instead it is about identifying a pool of possible sites that may be suitable.
