Current Consultation

TIMETABLE UPDATE: Following discussions with central government and Shepway Cabinet Resolution, the council is minded to revise the timetable for delivery of the LDF Core Strategy.  A revision of the formal programme (Local Development Scheme) will take place in due course, and it is anticipated representations on the Publication version will commence around the end of 2010.

The council is producing the Core Strategy which will form the central and most important component of the Local Development Framework (LDF).  The LDF is a new kind of plan which outlines how planning will be managed in Shepway.  The purpose of the Core Strategy is to look long-term (to 2026), rather than at all the details as these will follow in other LDF documents.

Latest news

The 'final draft' of a key evidence base document, the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) Consolidated Document is available for inspection: pdf SHLAA - Consolidated Document.

The SHLAA has already been subject to several consultation periods, and this Consolidated Document includes no new results.  Any further representations on presentational matters etc should be made by Friday 19th March 2010 to planning.policy@shepway.gov.uk.

Core Strategy - Preferred Options Consultation 2009

Further public consultation on Core Strategy (Preferred Options) ran from 8th June to 24th July 2009.  Information on the consultation response can be seen on the Core Strategy page which also now includes an Officer summary of actions arising to give an indication of the way forward on individual topics.

The Council's most recent expression of how it intends to take forward the LDF Core Strategy was set out in a report approved by Shepway's Cabinet on 4th November 2009 which can be found here.

Cabinet also noted a summary of feedback arising from the Preferred Options consultation earlier in the year.  Click on this link to find news on Core Strategy consultations and the way forward.
