Let the games begin

     



Work started has started on the new multi use games area at Greatstone.

The first stage of the work in the car park on The Parade involved removing car parking signs and installing a drain. This will be carried out by 4 Delivery Ltd - the company installing mains drainage in New Romney and Greatstone.

On Monday 14 May Park Leisure Ltd, which has worked with Shepway Council on the project, started laying a new surface for the football /basketball/netball pitch and putting up fences to stop stray balls escaping. The new equipment is due to arrive and be installed by mid June.

Plans first started 18 months ago to create a safe, secure area where local young people can play.

Cllr Carole Waters, Cabinet Member for Community Regeneration said: "Securing planning permission and funding to ensure that everything is in place has taken time, but we are very pleased that young people and the local community will at last benefit from this new facility in time for the school summer holidays."
