Getting help and support

Managing to live independently isn't easy. It means not just finding a property to live in, but being able to pay for it and keep it secure, warm, clean and well-maintained. For it to be truly your home, you also need to feel like you belong there, that you are in control of your life and that you do not feel isolated or stuck there.

The Supporting People programme in Kent is run by Kent County Council.

It helps vulnerable people to have a better quality of life by providing housing related support services. These are things like:

  • Life and social skills
  • Managing debts, budgeting and applying for benefits
  • Setting-up home and resettlement support
  • Understanding tenancy agreements
  • Staying safe at home
  • Getting on with neighbours
  • Taking up daytime activities, training education and employment within a community
  • Dealing with other agencies like health or advice services
