Parish polls at New Romney and Lydd
People in Lydd and New Romney go to the polls on Wednesday 4 April to vote on plans to expand Lydd Airport.
At the same time, electors in Lydd will also have the opportunity to vote on a separate question about money spent by Lydd Town Council.
The date has been set following town meetings on 2, 7 and 9 March which demanded the poll.
Electors in both Lydd and New Romney will be asked whether or not they support the proposed expansion of Lydd (London Ashford) Airport including any runway extension.
In Lydd, a further question will be put to voters: Do you consider that Lydd Town Council should spend a proportionate share of its total income throughout the Parish, based upon the number of electors registered in each polling district?
Voters should vote at their usual polling stations which will be at the Assembly Rooms, Church Approach, New Romney; Varne Boat Club, Coast Drive, Greatstone; Hardy Hall, Skinner Road, Lydd; the Lifeboat Station, Dungeness Road, Dungeness (replacing the former polling station at The Sanctuary); and St Peters' Church Hall, Roberts Road, Greatstone.
The hours of the poll are from 4.00pm to 9.00pm and voting is in person only. Votes will be counted immediately after the close of the poll.
Anyone who wants further information about the poll should ring Shepway Council on 01303 853315.
