Neighbours in dispute often find it difficult to talk to each other or make each other understand their points of view. Mediation provides a neutral third party to help find the way forward.

Noise, parking, pets' behaviour or boundary disputes, these are just some of the situations where Mediation can help. The Mediation Service is free, confidential and can stop disputes getting out of hand.

What is Mediation?

Mediation is a way of dealing with disputes that helps those involved to reach an agreement. The neighbours, not the mediators, decide the terms of any agreement. You are in control at all times. The Mediators will never take action or do anything without your permission.

Who are the Mediators?

Mediators are volunteers, who have received specialised training to help resolve neighbour problems. Mediators do not take sides or make judgments on the rights and wrongs of the issues.

Mediation Service - What's Involved?

Mediators will visit both neighbours involved in the dispute at home, to listen to the difficulties which are affecting their lifestyles. If both neighbours agree to a mediation session, the mediators will arrange a safe, neutral venue, for both neighbours to come together. They will then help them to work our an agreement for the future.

Why Mediation Works

Mediation concentrates on the practical solutions for the future. Any agreement reached will be decided by you and your neighbour.

Mediation will try to ensure that everyone is able to come out of a mediation session with their difficulties resolved, looking forward to the future as neighbours.
