Anti-social behaviour in Shepway has been dealt with in a systematic way for many years. In 2003, an anti-social behaviour task team was established to both improve coordination amongst key agencies and deal with an increasing rise in numbers of complaints and incidents of anti-social behaviour.

In October 2003, the Anti-Social Behaviour Act came into force giving agencies new powers to deal with anti-social behaviour. Since then, Shepway CDRP has appointed and Anti-Social Behaviour Investigator to:

• Proactively deal with complaints and provide an immediate response to individual requests from the community.
• Help coordinate cross-agency responses to anti-social behaviour including scoping meetings and intervention packages.

• Criminal damage/vandalism.
• Threatening behaviour.
• Harassment.
• Noise nuisance.
• Neighbour disputes.
• High hedges.
• Nuisance youths.
• Abandoned vehicles.
• fly-tipping.
