Tenants Obligations

5. Tenants Obligations

If you are a tenant or residential leaseholder of the Council you are responsible under the terms of your tenancy conditions or lease for your own behaviour and that of your pets, household and visitors both at your address and in the local vicinity. Your tenancy or lease could be placed at risk if these conditions are broken.

All new tenants of Coast and Countyside Housing Services are issued with a copy of our Tenant Handbook when they sign their tenancy agreement. Upon receipt of their handbook they also sign a declaration to say that they have read the tenancy conditions and understand that they:

  • Must not use the property for illegal purposes
  • Must not do anything in or around the property which is likely to disturb or annoy the neighbours
  • Must not do anything in or around the property which harasses the neighbours because of their race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin, disability, sex, marital status, sexuality or religion
  • Must not use violence or threaten violence against anybody else
  • Must not keep any animal which is a danger or a nuisance and must make sure any animal is kept under proper control
  • Must understand that they are responsible for the behaviour of other family members and visitors
