Right To Buy

You have the right to buy your council home at a discount as long as you have lived in your home for at least two years. You cannot buy your home if it has been purpose-built for older people, like sheltered homes or bungalows.

You can get a discount of between 32% and 70% depending on the length of time you have been a secure tenant with us or any other local authority, and whether you live in a house or flat.
