The Council's contractors collect domestic refuse and recycling from over 47,000 properties each week.

The collection service begins at 7:30am so please ensure any refuse and recycling you want collected is placed at the boundary of your property by that time in the morning.

This is what you can expect from your refuse collection service:

We will:

• Empty your wheeled bin (where supplied) on the same day each fortnight.
• Empty your communal bin (where supplied) on the same day each week.
• Return your emptied wheeled bin to its collection point.
• Return to collect refuse which has been missed, within 24 hours of it being reported.
• Provide a second wheeled bin if there are more than six people in your household.
• Continue to supply and deliver purple sacks to those homes which cannot use wheeled bins.
• Collect these purple sacks on the same day each weekly.
• Collect waste paper/cardboard for recycling from the front of your property in your blue bag on the same day each week.
• Collect clean glass bottles/jars, plastic bottles and cans/tins from the front of your property in your black box on the same day each week.
• Return to collect items from your blue bag and black box which have been missed, within 24 hours of it being reported.
• Deliver to you a second blue bag and black box if you would like them.
• Provide an assisted collection for householders who cannot put their waste out for collection because of a disability or age.
