Industries
The pollution team at Shepway District Council is responsible for the regulation of certain polluting industries under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Pollution Prevention Control Act, 1999 and the Solvent Emissions Regulations 2004.
The purpose of the legislation is to establish standards for emissions from the polluting industries such as coating, timber and vehicle re-spraying processes and also premises such as petrol stations, concrete batching sites and crematoriums.
Conditions will be attached to the permits to minimise the emission of pollutants. These conditions will include the specification of certain equipment to minimise pollutants and regular monitoring of emissions.
The Council holds a public register of all of the processes that are regulated under this legislation. The register can be inspected upon request.
If you require further information regarding authorised processes you can contact us by post, phone or email.
