Main ContentBedbugs
A service is provided by Environmental Health for the eradication of bedbugs at domestic properties at a subsidised rate (see fees and charges). Bed bugs can usually be found in parts of the houses such as in floor cracks, beneath carpets, behind wallpaper, damaged skirting boards and door frames, and in the seams of bed mattresses etc. They will usually reside close to a food source. Bed bugs can be carried from one property to another in furniture such as beds and furniture. They are not known to carry diseases, but can cause a painful bite, because they feed exclusively on blood. As the bedbug is a nocturnal creature, feeding is generally carried out at night, when you are asleep. Although bedbugs commonly feed on human blood, they can survive on other blood such as rodents. Bed bugs can survive long periods without food and can survive several months without feeding. If you require further information or would like to book a treatment you can contact us by post, phone email or e-form .
