The authorities responsible for shoreline management along this section of coast are part of the South East Coastal Group and comprise:

Hastings Borough Council  
Rother District Council  
Shepway District Council  
Wealden District Council  
Environment Agency  

District councils are responsible for coast protection, preventing erosion, under the Coast Protection Act of 1949.

The Environment Agency is responsible for flood defence under the Land Drainage and Water Resources Acts.
