How is the shoreline management plan used?
The Shoreline Management Plan is used:
 |
- To provide input to future reviews of statutory development plans (structure and local plans) prepared by the district and county councils. It will ensure that coastal defence issues are given due weight in these plans
- In making day-to-day decisions on planning applications for developments in the coastal zone ensuring that these decisions take account of coastal defence matters
- By flood and coastal defence engineers to help choose the most appropriate form of defence when designing new schemes
- To identify areas of further study and monitoring which will increase understanding of coastal processes
- As a source of information to the general public
- As an educational resource.
