Eastbourne Borough Council and the Environment Agency

Eastern Eastbourne, at the Crumbles, was formerly worked for gravel extraction and has now been developed as a marina. Further housing and business development of the area is underway.  A new wastewater treatment works serves Eastbourne and the surrounding area. The area is popular for tourism and recreation.

The coastline is protected by the recently completed coast protection scheme. Work included new timber and rock groynes, beach replenishment and rock revetments.

The existing level of coastal defence will be maintained through either beach recharge or recycling.
