Abbot's Cliff

The clifftop is undeveloped, although the A20 now runs close to the cliff edge. The Abbott's Tunnel carries the Folkestone/Dover rail link through the Cliff. The North Downs Way and Saxo Shore Way footpaths follow the cliffs.

The shoreline is largely undefended, although fallen boulders give some protection to the base of the cliffs. The rate of cliff erosion is slow and there are no plans to defend the cliffs. The effect of this on the railway will need to be monitored. Although there are no current proposals, should the railway close this would offer an opportunity to realign the coastline.
