Food sampling

The Food Safety Act 1990 states that it is an offence for any food business to sell food which is:

• unfit for human consumption
• so contaminated that it would not be reasonable to expect it to be used for human consumption
• is not of the quality demanded buy the purchaser.

To ensure that food being sold in Shepway is safe to eat, the environmental health team takes routine food samples from premises and conducts sampling programmes and initiatives.
