In order to prevent harm to consumers the Food Standards Agency will issue Food Hazard Warnings to local authorities.Every so often, problems occur during the manufacture and distribution of food usually as a result of a fault during production.

In order to prevent harm to consumers the Food Standards Agency will issue Food Hazard Warnings to local authorities. Food Hazard warnings are a way of letting the Environmental Health team at Shepway District Council know about these problems and provide information on what action may be required.

food Hazard Warnings are currently issued under four categories:

  • for Immediate Action
  • for Action
  • for Action as Deemed Necessary
  • for Information.

Food Hazard Warnings are often issued in conjunction with a product withdrawal or recall by a manufacturer, retailer or distributor.
