Neighbourhood RenewalWhat is 'Neighbourhood Renewal'?
Why was 'Guildhall North' selected?
Guildhall North is a natural neighbourhood formed by boundaries of major streets, a railway line, and forms a large part of the residential section of the Folkestone Harvey Central Ward. Its location next to Folkestone's cultural quarter and the town centre also make it an obvious choice. The case for investment and support is strengthened by its combination of low incomes and the fact that potentially 40 per cent of the homes in the area are below the fitness standard.
With a declared area, a more proactive approach can be taken to tackle unfit and derelict properties. Shepway Council, working with other agencies, will be able to provide residents in the area with advice and help on a variety of issues. The success of the entire project however depends on the involvement of local residents and residents group. We hope that anyone who wants to make a difference will get involved!
Do you live in Guildhall North? Those who work and live in Guildhall North are encouraged to join the local residents group. The success of the program depends on the active involvement of the local community. If you would like more information please contact our Neighbourhood Renewal Officer
