Welcome to the new Shepway District Council Website. Over the last 6 months we have completely re-written the website to bring you a much better experience. There are loads of new features and content that we hope you'll find useful.

We have changed the way you can find information about our services. 

 

1. Contact Details : Find everything you need to call, write, email or visit the Council with links to maps, trains, taxi information and local accommodation sites.
2. Text Size and Translation : We have never restricted text size but now we have made it even easier to increase fonts by simply clicking the text icons on the top of the screen. Additionally, using the free service offered by Google, you can now translate the website into the following languages with the click of a button: French, German, Italian and Spanish. More languages will follow as they are available.
3. Information Bar : Everything you should need to find the information you require, right at your fingertips.
4. Quick links and Search : Most frequently used services form the quick links boxes whilst the revamped search will return the information you require from within the entire site.
5. Navigation : Completely revamped with over 4,600 new ways to find the content you require. At last there is no need to know where information exists to find it as we've added the links where you expect to see them, yet they all still point to the same area of information, just like when you add a desktop item on your PC or a favourites link in your internet browser.
6. A to Z : As expected a complete list of categories on the website with the added bonus of keyword tagging to ensure everyday common naming terms are applied to council speak making them simple to find.
7. Spotlight : This area will be used to highlight items of specific interest to the public on a revolving basis.
8. What's Hot : Previous highlight options will be displayed here along with other items of high interest to the public
9. News Releases : A list of the latest 5 press releases issued by the council. All releases can also be syndicated to use on your own website via standard RSS and Atom formats.
10. Events : Want to see what's happening today and for the rest of the week then now you can. The new events guide is not just for attractions it will also be used to remind you of events at places like the Amphitheatre or Bandstand and important dates such as the last day you can apply for inclusion on the electoral roll etc
11. Partner Links: Local authority and partner sites that may interest our visitors.
12. Weather Forecast: Great for visitors and residents alike the 5 day weather forecast helps plan the weeks events.
