Planning Policy

Planning policy is the starting point for considering planning applications. Planning policy at the local government level is responsible for producing the Local Development Framework which currently includes the saved policies from the Local Plan (Adopted March 2006). The Planning Policy Team produces these documents in consultation with the community and on the basis of relevant evidence. Therefore the team has produced a Statement of Community Involvement in planning which explains how the community will be able to become involved; and also Annual Monitoring Reports detailing the performance of local policies.

The team sets out its future work and dates of public consultation in the Local Development Scheme (LDS). In line with the LDS the policy team will be working on the production of the Core Strategy and supporting documents.
