Occupational health and safety inspections

There are in the region of 2500 health and safety premises in the district of Shepway. The Council has a statutory duty to enforce health and safety at work legislation within these premises in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

The Commercial team inspects premises involved with retail or wholesale, hotel and catering, sports and leisure, residential accommodation (excluding nursing homes), places of worship, pre-school childcare and mobile vending. The Council carries out these duties through the routine inspection of premises.
