Emergency Planning

Shepway District Council has a Major Emergency Plan which helps it deal effectively with any major emergency in our district and co-ordinating our activity with other organisations such as the fire brigade and police.

The definition of a major emergency is an event that can cause death, injury, or serious disruption to normal life for large numbers of people. The scale and/or duration of the emergency means that public services can no longer operate under their normal conditions and special arrangements have to be put in place to deal with it.

All of Shepway District Council's managers take part in emergency planning, training and emergency exercises. They are assisted by an Emergency Planning Officer who also works for Kent County Council.

At Shepway the manager responsible for emergency planning is Ann Hunter telephone 01303 853000
